Paris Day 3 - October 19th

The rest of our party are arriving today so the first part of our day was waiting to greet Dave, at about 8:30 AM and Jan and Lee around 1:30.  While we waited, Bob and I did visit Parc Monceau again in the mist.  It's a beautiful park with obvious attention to foliage that changes with the season amd some very, very old trees.  Beautiful.





The big event of the day was our timed tickets to the Eiffel Tower at about 5:30 with the plan to see Paris, the city if lights, from the second level.  Although it was raining quite a bit on our the walk over and while we were on the tower, we were not disappointed with the views or the experience

More lights showing and darkness descending, so headed back outside to get photos










We returned to L'Annexe for our dinner and Dave's birthday



Desserts are always a must on a birthday - french toast with ice cream and caramel sauce.

 Strassburg, France  So, today, as one side of the Rhine is Germany and the other France, we visited Strasburg which is in France.  Strasburg has been bounced between German and French rule for many years.  Our guide said that her great grandmother changed nationality 4 times during her lifetime.  It has been french continuously since 1918.  Paris Oct 17 - 20, 2024 -  Day One Itinerary From San Diego to Montreal to Paris in one day.  Got into Paris at 6:30 AM and after a lot of early morning traffic got to the Collectionneur Hotel near the Arc de Triomphe.  Rainy day in Paris but visited  Parc Monceau near our hotel, Arc de Triomphe and had dinner at nearby small restaurant, L'Annexe.  Great food.  This rainy day reminded of many impressionistic paintings of Paris. Bus ride from Paris  to Trier Cathedral at Reims Back side of the Cathedral Frontside of the Cathedral Loved the symmetry of the arches The Cathedral in complimented by the autumn colors Paris countryside - green and much of it cultivated farm land. American Cemetery in Luxembourg to commemorate the American soldiers lost in the Belgium Battle of the Bulge.  Particularly interesting to me since my father was there during that time as a medical doctor.  He was recruited after his medical schooling at USC.
